Project Description: Belize

BME-International produced an Environmental Due Diligence Report for a 7,000-acre parcel of coastal land at Balam Estate, Corozal District, Belize. This desktop analysis informed the conceptual site zonation (undertaken by BOA) and supported the feasibility assessment of the site for development. The report identified ‘red flag’ or development constraints presented by the physical and ecological environment and regulatory framework. Recommendations covered site planning considerations as they relate to potential constraints associated with wildlife habitat, coastal mangroves, shallow foreshore, as well as flood and climate change risks. Additional recommendations were made in connection with optimizing the environmental performance of the proposed coastal development.
